This year marks a major milestone for our organization! For 30 years AFIT has been providing world-class team-based learning and networking experiences for higher education organizations.
In 1991, five ground-breaking CEOs representing Dallas County Community College District, Fox Valley Technical College, Grand Rapids Community College, Jackson College, and Rio Salado College founded the Continuous Quality Improvement Network (CQIN) to improve higher education performance using a "learning partner" model that taught successful strategies and approaches used in the business world and how they could be applied on campus.
In 2018, CQIN became the Alliance for Innovation & Transformation (AFIT) to continue building on that tradition while focusing on rapid improvement and bigger ideas to address the significant challenges before us.
Over the years we have been inspired by the pursuit of excellence we have seen in the men and women from our member organizations. They are pioneers—breaking new ground and taking the risks necessary to achieve high performance and exceed their own expectations. When we transitioned from CQIN to AFIT in search of ways to transform ourselves and innovate how we approach our work, everyone was "all in" immediately. Our members' faith in our organization was nothing short of amazing!
AFIT's Executive Committee and staff have a number of activities planned this year to celebrate this very special milestone. We hope you will help us kick off the celebration in Denver at the CEO Forum & Reps Meeting on March 4-6 and bring a big team to partake in the festivities at Summer Institute on July 29-August 1.
