AFIT's Executive Committee is pleased to announce that Arizona Western College's president, Dr. Daniel Corr, has been accepted as our newest member. Dr. Corr decided to apply for membership after attending the 2019 CEO Forum & Reps Meeting in Plano, Texas as a guest of Central Arizona College President Jackie Elliott. "I found the experience to be unlike any other in recent memory," said President Corr. "I loved the small group setting and the dynamic conversation that occurred."
Since becoming president in 2016, Dr. Corr has insisted that AWC implement continuous quality improvement principles (CQIP). One example is their recently approved strategic plan, which was developed over 14 months with input from approximately 2,400 people. AWC's strategic plan has goals and objectives with a built-in measurement function that allows them to be measured quarterly.
Some other CQIPs they have put in place include program reviews for each unit on campus with an eye toward future improvement, rather than "counting" the number of students served in the past. In fact, their recent Higher Learning Commission (HLC) visit report lauded the College for their approach to continuous quality improvement throughout the organization.
"As Arizona Western College looks to move from good to great, I believe AFIT can help us get there. As a first-time president, I believe I can benefit professionally from being involved in such a forward-thinking organization."
Prior to assuming the role of AWC’s President, Dr. Corr served as the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at Scottsdale Community College since 2007.
Reetika Dhawan, AWC's dean for career and technical education, will serve as the College's AFIT Rep.
