AFIT Welcomes President Steven Schulz

Dr. Steven Schulz, President, North Iowa Area CC
AFIT's Executive Committee is pleased to announce that North Iowa Area Community College's president, Dr. Steven Schulz, has been accepted as our newest member. President Schulz decided to apply for AFIT membership because he recognized that the community college system will need to reinvent itself over the next decade to better serve its mission and avoid obsolescence, and AFIT's focus on innovation, best practice, and continuous quality improvement can help guide that transformation.

Dr. Schulz has served as the president of NIACC since December 2013. Prior to this, he was the provost at Des Moines Area Community College, Carroll campus. He also served as the 2 + 2 Coordinator at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls and the superintendent of the Carroll Community School District. Dr. Schulz received his bachelor’s degree in History from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, his master’s in Educational Administration from the University of Northern Iowa, his education specialist degree from Drake University in Des Moines, and his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Iowa State University.

NIACC's vice president of institutional effectiveness and organizational development, Dr. Shelly Schmit, will serve as the College's AFIT Rep.
