AFIT’s Executive Committee is pleased to announce that Dr. Deborah Kish Johansen, president of Hillsborough Community College (HCC) Brandon Campus in Tampa, Florida has been accepted as a new member. Dr. Julie White, dean of student services, will serve as the College's AFIT Rep.
Dr. Johansen assumed the presidency of HCC Brandon Campus in January 2021. Previously, she held the positions of vice president of academic affairs, chief academic officer, chief operating officer, academic dean, and graduate and undergraduate faculty. She also has legal and government experience, having served in positions of corporate and government legal counsel. Dr. Johansen holds a bachelor's degree from Florida State University, an MBA and JD/MBA from University of Florida, and a doctorate from National American University.
Dr. Johansen learned about the Alliance for Innovation & Transformation (AFIT) several years ago when she attended Summer Institute as a member of the Aims Community College team. The value she gained from AFIT’s team learning approach and the opportunity to learn from leading organizations outside of higher education motivated her to apply for membership.
“I am excited to join such a talented group of leaders and colleges all focused on bettering their communities and students’ lives. I look forward to learning and growing together,” said Dr. Johansen.
AFIT is happy to welcome Deborah, Julie, and the entire HCC Brandon Campus team to our alliance!
