AFIT Welcomes Back Dr. Barbara Kavalier, President of St. Charles Community College

The Alliance for Innovation and Transformation (AFIT) is pleased to welcome returning member Dr. Barbara Kavalier, president and chief executive officer for St. Charles Community College (SCC), located in the greater St. Louis Region.  

Barbara originally joined our alliance in 2014 when she was the president of Navarro College in Texas. She then became the president of St. Charles Community College in 2016 and remained an active AFIT member through 2019. 
 
Barbara brings over 10 years of experience as a CEO in higher education. She has a proven track record of success, leading initiatives like public-private partnerships, bond campaigns, and workforce education funding, while consistently exceeding budget and enrollment goals. A passionate advocate for equity and social justice, she has implemented programs and services that support underrepresented students. Her distinguished service includes national, state, and local organizations, and she is a recognized researcher and presenter in higher education. 

After a brief time away, we are thrilled to have Barbara rejoin AFIT. Her expertise and leadership experience will bring unique insights to our alliance as we work toward shaping the future of higher education.  

Betsy Schneider, chief of staff will serve as the AFIT Rep.
